From pottery, stones, and statues, to detailed carvings on an year old temple in Cambodia, archaeology is abounding with pictures of the creatures we now call dinosaurs. So why is there a concerted effort to deny the co-existence of these creatures with humanity? Dinosaurs lived millions and millions of years ago. The proof for this is in the fossil evidence and extinction. In order for their bones to be fossilized, and then buried under miles of dirt, rock, and other bones, they must have been wiped out long before mankind existed.
Whatever disaster destroyed the dinosaurs must have happened before our ancestors were crawling around on all fours, or they would have been destroyed too. Today, these assumptions are touted as fact, as indisputable as gravity. Scientifically, we have discovered that fossilization does not take millions of years. It just requires the right conditions. And the burial of millions of animals, plants, and marine life is explained quite easily by the worldwide flood recorded in the Book of Genesis.
Adam and Eve saw them in the Garden of Eden; Noah took them on the Ark; and mankind has interacted with them and been fascinated by them for over 6, years. It is only in recent times that there has been a concerted effort to assert their extinction before the dawn of humanity. This error has led many to question the Word of God and thereby to deny the reality of Creation, the Flood, and the Coming Judgment. Part of the Original Creation? There are, however, alternative explanations for dragons. Possible Passages There are a couple of passages in Scripture that may give a specific reference to dinosaurs. These passages are found in the Book of Job and they refer to creatures known as the behemoth and the leviathan. The Bible says the following concerning the behemoth.
Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; he eats grass like an ox. See now, his strength is in his hips, and his power is in his stomach muscles. He moves his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. His bones are like beams of bronze, his ribs are like bars of iron.
He is first of the ways of God; only He who made him can bring near His sword. Surely the mountains yield food for him, and all the beasts of the field play there. He lies under the lotus trees, in a covert of reeds and marsh. The lotus trees cover him with their shade; the willows by the brook surround him. Indeed the river may rage, yet he is not disturbed; he is confident, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth, though he takes it in his eyes, or one pierces his nose with a snare Job Job 41 gives a more detailed description of the leviathan.
Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook, or snare his tongue with a line you lower? Can you put a reed through his nose, or pierce his jaw with a hook? Can you fill his skin with harpoons or his head with fishing spears? Lay your hand on him; remember the battle-never do it again! Indeed any hope of overcoming him is vain; shall one not be overwhelmed at the sight of him? No one is so fierce that he would dare stir him up. Who then is able to stand against Me.
I will not conceal his limbs, His mighty power or his graceful proportions. On earth there is nothing like him, which is made without fear. He beholds every high thing; he is king over all the children of pride Job , Not Mythological Or Symbolic Creatures Though many Bible students think these creatures were mythological or merely symbolic creatures, these creatures were actually created by God. The following reasons show this to be true.
In Job there are 12 animals that are mentioned by God. All of these are real creatures. This would indicate that the final two creatures mentioned would also be real. God told Job to look at the behemoth He could only look at a real creature. God told Job that He made the behemoth as He had made man The Bible provides detailed descriptions of the physical characteristics of the Leviathan and behemoth. This is not consistent with mythological creatures.
In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There the ships go to and fro, and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there Psalm , Behemoth Described The following things can be ascertained from the description of the behemoth.

He has large bones like beams of bronze and ribs like bars of iron. The behemoth is first in the ways of God. Only God can control this creature.
He visits the mountains along with the other creatures. They all seem to play there. Though he is this creature of great strength and size, he lets other beasts play near him unhurt.
He lives an inactive life under the lotus tree and in the marsh. He is not disturbed when the river rages. What Was It? Some commentators state simply that it is an animal of unknown origin.
Impressively, he moved his tail like a cedar tree! Although some Bible commentaries say this may have been an elephant or hippopotamus, the description actually fits that of a dinosaur like Brachiosaurus. Elephants and hippos certainly do not have tails like cedar trees! Actually, very few animals are singled out in the Bible for such a detailed description.
Contrary to what many may think, what we know now as dinosaurs get more mention in the Scriptures than most animals! So dinosaurs—all the different kinds—must have lived alongside of people after the Flood. In most instances, the word dinosaur could substitute for dragon and it would fit very nicely. Creation scientists believe that dinosaurs were called dragons before the word dinosaur was invented in the s.
We would not expect to find the word dinosaur in Bibles like the Authorized Version , as it was translated well before the word dinosaur was ever used. Also, there are many very old history books in various libraries around the world that have detailed records of dragons and their encounters with people.
Surprisingly or not so surprisingly for creationists , many of these descriptions of dragons fit with how modern scientists would describe dinosaurs, even Tyrannosaurus. Unfortunately, this evidence is not considered valid by evolutionists.
Only because their belief is that man and dinosaurs did not live at the same time! However, the more we research the historical literature, the more we realize there is overwhelming evidence that dragons were real beasts, much like our modern reconstructions of dinosaurs, and that their existence has been recorded by many different people, even just hundreds of years ago.
Evolutionists use their imagination in a big way in answering this question. When reading evolutionist literature, you will be astonished at the range of ideas concerning their supposed extinction.
The following is just a small list of theories:. Dinosaurs starved to death; they died from overeating; they were poisoned; they became blind from cataracts and could not reproduce; mammals ate their eggs. Other causes include volcanic dust, poisonous gases, comets, sunspots, meteorites, mass suicide, constipation, parasites, shrinking brain and greater stupidity , slipped discs, changes in the composition of air, etc.
But, one such explanation does exist. If you remove the evolutionary framework, get rid of the millions of years, and then take the Bible seriously, you will find an explanation that fits the facts and makes perfect sense:. At the time of the Flood, many of the sea creatures died, but some survived. In addition, all of the land creatures outside the Ark died, but the representatives of all the kinds that survived on the Ark lived in the new world after the Flood.
Those land animals including dinosaurs found the new world to be much different than the one before the Flood. Due to 1 competition for food that was no longer in abundance, 2 other catastrophes, 3 man killing for food and perhaps for fun , and 4 the destruction of habitats, etc. The group of animals we now call dinosaurs just happened to die out too. In fact, quite a number of animals become extinct each year. Extinction seems to be the rule in Earth history not the formation of new types of animals as you would expect from evolution.
The answer is probably not … but, then again? There are some scientists who believe a few dinosaurs may have survived in remote jungles. We are still discovering new species of animals and plants today in areas that have been too difficult to explore until now. Even natives in some countries describe beasts that fit with what might be a dinosaur.
Creationists, of course, would not be surprised if someone found a living dinosaur. However, evolutionists would then have to explain why they made dogmatic statements that man and dinosaur never lived at the same time. I suspect they would say something to the effect that this dinosaur somehow survived because it was trapped in a remote area that has not changed for millions of years. It is not science—it is not fact!
When we see the bones of dinosaurs, we can be reminded that death was not a part of the original creation. Death is actually an intruder, entering when the first man disobeyed God. Even though all of these incredible creatures have died out long ago, we can still appreciate the power and wonder that they must have had during their time.
Yes, dinosaurs were awesome creatures! Yet, the best thing about these incredible creatures is that they were created by our majestic and all-powerful God!
